In your role as a purchaser, your job is to maintain contact with suppliers in the chain. You can select the right suppliers based on the chosen circular direction. With those chosen suppliers, you can discuss the other conditions for each order and agree the right price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an ideal world, you will also build long-term relationships with your suppliers. You can also agree a development path with circular suppliers. For example, you agree that the supplier will keep optimising its circular offering, and that you will end the relationship if that does not happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To procure in a circular fashion, it\u2019s important that your internal organisation<\/strong> is prepared to design a circular procurement process.<\/strong> What role do you, as a purchaser, play in this? The following are the steps that are relevant to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Make sure you have mapped a few good suppliers for each spearhead and that you have already agreed the most important conditions. This allows you to quickly choose a supplier tailored to the client\u2019s focus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ask potential suppliers about their circular experiences (references) and the steps they hope to take in the coming years. This provides insight into the extent to which a supplier has actually taken and will still take development steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Agree with suppliers what steps they will take in the coming years and concretise this with \u2018key performance indicators\u2019 (KPIs).
